About My Model
A great teacher of mine at the University of Iowa once asked the class to define our model. To me, a model was inspiration and aspirations wrapped together.
My inspiration comes from small daily observations as well as significant events. For instance, I took a trip to Santa Fe and after a heavy downpour, I was delighted to find large snails making their way onto the sidewalk. I took a photograph. Later, I paired the snail with a routine photograph I had taken for my doctor documenting an allergic reaction. You can see the result in the digital gallery.
I enjoy having a set of guidelines for projects. Rather than feeling boxed in, I get a flood of ideas and use intermediary time to mull them over. My design for this website came to me when I had awoke before the sun rose, right before I realized it was much too early and that I should go back to sleep. It's not always that sporadic. A long drive or waiting line gives me time to inwardly "converse" with myself over ideas.
As for aspirations, well, there is always room for self-improvement. I think that a visit to a foreign country would be just the ticket.
